Beechcroft World Earth Day Planter Renovation

Event Highlights

• On 22 April 2025, to mark World Earth Day, the Weymouth team's environmental committee organized an event at Beechcroft Saint Paul's Church of England VA Primary School to renovate the school’s planters. The team restored the planters to working order and planted a new selection of vegetables for the spring season.
• The event aimed to provide Beechcroft students with hands-on gardening experience, introducing them to basic gardening skills, the benefits of locally grown produce, and concepts such as food miles and nutrition. By demonstrating how easy it is to grow food on a small scale, the initiative encouraged students to continue using the planters and develop sustainable habits.
• The main CSR objectives were to highlight the environmental advantages of local food production compared to mass farming and importing, and to strengthen community ties between ASMPT and Beechcroft. Both parties benefited: Beechcroft gained restored planters for ongoing educational use, while ASMPT’s student committee developed valuable skills in teamwork, organization, budgeting, and procurement.
